Simple strategies to manage your bookkeeping this summer

Summer is in full swing. The first thing to go when the weather improves is generally the tedious things. Like staying on top of your bookkeeping and financials. Here are some simple strategies to manage your bookkeeping while the sunny weather beckons you outdoors.

Embrace technology

The best thing about most cloud-based bookkeeping programs like QuickBooks is that you can use them anywhere, even by the pool. There is no excuse to fall behind when there are so many electronic options available for your bookkeeping. These programs allow you to send invoices and estimates, record expenses and receipts, and more. All from a bookkeeping app on your smartphone or laptop.

Keep to a schedule

It’s easy in the summer to let your routines go by the wayside. If you always do your bookkeeping on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, you will be kicking yourself in the fall if you let it slide now. If a big chunk of time is not an option due to holidays or a vacation, at a minimum try to make sure you input your receipts. This shouldn’t take more than fifteen minutes, especially if you are using technology to your advantage. Remember, success is all in the details.

Change the scenery

One of the best ways to feel like you aren’t being deprived in the summer is to work outside. It’s not always possible to do this with every type of business. If that’s the case for you, at the least, going for walks before, after and in the middle of your workday can make surviving the summer easier. And if you can work outside, get out there and enjoy!

Reward yourself

If you buckle down and get all the monotonous bookkeeping work done then make sure you reward yourself. Take some time off to enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts. This doesn’t necessarily need to cost you any money either. A stroll by the water on a gorgeous day is good for you physically and mentally. Plus it is so much sweeter when you don’t have lots of work to complete when you return to the office.

Hire us to do it

Okay, shameless self-promotion but if you don’t want to handle any of your bookkeeping over the summer than a great option is to hire us to do it for you! Then you really can have your cake and eat it too. Get in touch today, and we will take away your summertime blues.
